Timber is produced by Wild Rumpus a community interest company who work at the intersection of arts and nature. The festival takes place in, and is a celebration and exploration of, The National Forest and the transformative impact of trees and forests on our lives. 

Wild Rumpus

… is a not-for-profit family arts organisation who exist in a space where arts and culture meet the natural environment. Working from the Whirligig, 4 acres of woodland, we create experiences which inspire curiosity and design events that immerse audiences in incredible stories and moments of wonder.

Wild Rumpus CIC is a social enterprise producing large scale outdoor arts events, most often in wild natural landscapes. We believe that by creating visceral arts experiences in nature, we can encourage people to re-imagine their relationship with their environment and that by feeling more emotionally connected and passionate about nature people are more likely to take action to conserve and protect it.

The National Forest

… is the UK’s boldest environmentally-led regeneration project: the creation of England’s first new forest in a thousand years. Spanning 200 square miles across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, it’s an imaginative and ambitious statement of sustainable development.

The National Forest is transforming lives, the landscape and the economy. Over the last 25 years, more than eight and a half million trees have been planted by communities and landowners, increasing woodland cover to 20%, well above the national average.

However there’s more to this Forest than trees. This transformation inspires people and businesses to connect, to get back in touch with nature and to flourish. We are creating a distinctive sense of place, a forest culture for the 21st century.
